Overview
The Charge 6 (September 2023) is Fitbit's classic fitness band: ECG, an EDA stress sensor and built-in GPS in a slim band with a 1.04-inch AMOLED. It remains the current Charge model; no Charge 7 has launched as of late 2026.
What it does well
- Sensors rare in a band. ECG, EDA stress tracking, SpO2, skin temperature and irregular-rhythm alerts, plus built-in GPS, most of which competitors sell only in full watches.
- Google-era heart rate. Google's algorithms drive the heart-rate tracking, and the band can broadcast live heart rate to supported gym equipment.
- A week of battery and water resistance to 50 m. Fitbit lists the Charge 6 as swimproof and documents swim tracking with pool-length setting (Fitbit help pages).
- Google Wallet payments on the wrist, unusual in a band.
Tradeoffs to know
- The full insights sit behind Fitbit Premium; the band works without it, but detailed readiness and sleep analysis are paywalled.
- Single-band GPS: adequate for runs, less precise than dual-frequency sport watches.
- The 1.04-inch screen is small for maps or long notifications, and third-party app support was not verified.
- It is a 2023 model: still current, but watch for a successor.
Price and availability
$159.95 launch price, and it regularly sells for less now. Check current retailer prices before buying.
