eSIM smartwatch in Israel: carriers, plans and what to check

Short answer: Two Israeli carriers publish eSIM plans for smartwatches, Cellcom and Pelephone. Both list Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch and both say the watch can share your phone number. The details change, so use this page to know what to ask, then confirm with the carrier before you buy. Facts as listed on October 4, 2026. Check with the carrier before you buy.

What this means for choosing a watch

A watch plan needs a watch that supports eSIM and a phone from the same family. An iPhone pairs with Apple Watch, and a Samsung phone pairs with Galaxy Watch. If your phone is another brand, check that the watch you want works with it, and whether the carrier lists that pairing.

Before you buy

  1. Name the exact watch model and check it against the carrier's list.
  2. Ask whether your phone model and operating system are supported.
  3. Ask what the plan costs after any free period.
  4. Ask whether it works abroad (Pelephone's page says domestic only).
  5. See the full checklist and how number sharing works. Browse eSIM models in the catalog.

How setting up an eSIM watch usually works

The exact steps depend on the watch brand and the carrier, so follow the instructions from both. In general, you add the watch plan from your phone, using the carrier's app, a code the carrier gives you, or the watch maker's own app. The phone and the watch need to be close together and connected to the internet while you do it. Some carriers ask you to confirm the line in their app or at a store before the plan turns on. Allow time for the first activation and keep the packaging and any confirmation message until it works.

What happens when you change your phone

A watch plan is tied to your phone line and to the watch maker's app, so a new phone usually needs a fresh set-up of the watch connection. Moving from one phone brand to another can be harder, because many watches work with one brand only. Check this before you buy a new phone, and ask the carrier whether the watch plan moves with your number or needs to be added again.

How to think about the cost of a cellular watch

The watch itself is one cost. The monthly plan is a second cost that continues for as long as you keep the cellular feature. Carriers may run an introductory period, and the charge afterwards is what counts over a year. Compare that with a Bluetooth watch, which has no monthly plan but needs your phone nearby. Decide how often you would really leave the phone at home. If the answer is rarely, a Bluetooth model may be enough. We do not list prices on WristGuide. Check the carrier's current terms before you decide.
